The word was popularised by internet personality and streamer Kai Cenat, who used it in a very specific way: rizz is about effortless, unforced attraction. You don't try — you just have it. Oxford University Press named "rizz" one of its words of the year in 2023, which is about when it crossed from internet subculture into mainstream awareness.
W Rizz vs L Rizz
W Rizz is the good kind: effortless charm, smooth communication, natural ability to create attraction without seeming like you're trying. Someone with W rizz knows what to say in the moment, doesn't overthink it, and makes the other person feel at ease. L Rizz is the opposite: trying too hard, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, making situations awkward. Someone with L rizz often has genuine intentions but lacks the social calibration that makes attraction feel natural. The interesting thing about rizz as a concept is that trying to demonstrate rizz is often the surest way to lose it. It's not a skill you perform — it's a quality you embody.
Unspoken Rizz
